FINDING PATIENCE IN MOTHERHOOD
One of the things that surprised me the most in motherhood was how impatient and ANGRY I became with my toddler after my second baby was born...
I was nothing like the person I had always thought I was...
I didn't know what had come over me.
I felt so ashamed... and I felt so bad for my poor daughter. :(
Every day I frantically googled "how to become more patient"...
I even tried putting posters all over my house saying "Supernanny is watching"... hoping that an imaginary Supernanny could somehow stop me from losing it... :(
I finally realized that mother anger is actually very common and it has a very simple explanation:
Mother anger is a SECONDARY Emotion of motherhood.
We feel anger towards our children when our Primary Emotions of motherhood are not being addressed.
So... when I found myself getting angry, I would ask myself "What am I REALLY feeling right now?"
Am I feeling trapped?
guilty?
ashamed?
judged?
like a failure?
powerless?
lacking control over my life?
scared?
inadequate?
alone?
devalued?
afraid?
I realized that by acknowledging the primary emotions behind my anger and by talking about them, I started being able to free myself from the anger itself!
I realized that what I wanted most of all in the whole world was to be the loving, patient, compassionate mother I had always thought I would be...
I wanted to be my "best self" with my children... that person that I was with my best friends...
After much reading, soul-searching, and trial and error... I finally figured it out!
One day, it came together, and I was able to remain happy, calm, and contented all day no matter what!!
I was finally able to be my "best self" with my children! :)
I have written a PDF on the approach I used to overcome mother anger and find my "best self" again.
Let me know if you would like me to send you a copy.
I hope that my approach helps you the way that it helped me! ❤️
Wishing you peace and happiness in motherhood...
