I have two groups of clients who I help a lot:
1. Social Anxiety Clients (who tend to be introverts)
2. Generalized Anxiety & Motherhood Anxiety Clients (who tend to be both Extroverts and Introverts)
.
I have noticed a fundamental difference between the kind of coaching that extroverts and introverts require...
.
EXTROVERTS need to be able to express themselves freely to someone who understands.
It is by expressing themselves freely that they see connections, have insights, and see potential solutions for themselves.
They benefit from my feedback too... but they first really need to hear themselves express whatever comes up for them.
.
INTROVERTS don't tend to have this same need to express themselves. They have been thinking about their problems all week.
Instead, they want me to ask good questions so that we can both see the big picture...
and then they want to hear my ideas and insights so that they can think about it more the following week.
.
Traditional therapy was designed for extroverts...
The therapist would just sit there, expecting the client to talk the whole session... and through talking, supposedly the client would help themselves.
This is not true for introverts... especially introverts with social anxiety!
.
For INTROVERTS, being asked good questions from an open-minded professional... and receiving actual input, insights, and potential solutions is key.
Introverts also benefit from being able to JOURNAL to me during the week... They need to be able to express what they want... whenever they want... in whatever medium works best for them.
.
And although EXTROVERTS have a greater need to express themselves orally, they also benefit from these other elements as well.
.
Let me know if you'd like me to help you overcome your anxiety, social anxiety, or motherhood-related anxiety...
We will find the most effective method for you.
To your happiness & empowerment...
